Product Description

Models plants exercise in Montessori botany curriculum consists of cards of different types of plants and plastic models of different types of plants. The exercise is meant for the children to understand plant kingdom and how plants are differentiated. The different parts of the plant are taught and the purpose of each part of that plant is taught. Children are capable of understanding the basic lesson about plant kingdom.

Purpose
  • To help the children learn the different names of plants.
  • To help the children understand what plants bear fruits and what bear flowers.
  • To make the children be aware of different types of growth different plants have.
  • To familiarize the children about plant kingdom.
Exercise
  • Demonstrate the exercise by bringing the complete set and placing it on the mat.
  • Invite the children and tell them to bring along their respective sets to the mat and sit around to watch your demonstration in which they can simultaneously participate.
  • Ask the children to open their respective plant models sets.
  • Tell the children to place all the cards on the mat randomly and leave the plant models in the basket.
  • Now, first start the exercise by taking out a plant model randomly.
  • Identify it and place it in front of you.
  • Begin to look for the matching card by picking up cards and comparing them against the plant.
  • As you choose cards, make sure to match them and place them aside so that you don't pick them up again.
  • After you find the correct matching card to the plant model you picked up, place both of them aside.
  • Continue the exercise to pick another plant model randomly.
  • Similarly pick a random card and compare it with the plant model and place both of them aside.
  • Now, choose another card and find a pair.
  • As you complete the exercise until all the plants are matched with their respective cards, make sure that all the pairs are arranged in order.
  • Invite a child in the middle of the exercise to participate by choosing the correct matching card.
  • Encourage the child to place the card and plant aside after comparing and finding similarities in the appearances.
  • Now, encourage the children to do the exercise individually and independently.
  • Monitor the child's work and assist the child only when there is a necessity.
