Product Description

Models- Vegetables exercise in the Montessori botany curriculum consists of cards of different vegetables and vegetable models made of hard plastic in the shape of different vegetables in various shapes, sizes and colors. This activity helps the child to understand the basic vegetables names, sizes, colors and tastes. It also helps the child to understand the vegetarian food consumption.

Purpose
  • To help the child to develop the sense of vegetarian food consumption.
  • To make the child be familiar and aware of the major vegetables.
  • To help the child to discriminate between vegetarian and non-vegetarian food consumption.
Exercise
  • Demonstrate the exercise by bringing the complete set and placing it on the mat.
  • Invite the children to sit around you with their respective sets to watch and simultaneously participate in the exercise.
  • Begin the exercise by laying all the cards on the mat randomly.
  • Make sure the vegetable models are left in the basket. Place the basket next to the cards laid randomly on the mat.
  • Pick a vegetable model randomly from the basket.
  • Have a good look at it to identify what vegetable it is.
  • Proceed to picking up the correct card for the vegetable.
  • Now, make sure that you find the correct match by picking up random cards and comparing the appearance of card and vegetable.
  • If you pick a card that does not match and pair with the vegetable, then pick another one.
  • Keep choosing the cards and comparing them by holding against the vegetable to see the similarity.
  • Once you find the correct match, pair them and keep them aside.
  • Continue to choose another vegetable randomly from the basket.
  • Identify it and proceed to picking up the card that matches and pairs correctly.
  • As soon as you find the correct matching card, pair it with the picked up vegetable and place both of them in the side.
  • Continue the exercise of picking up a random vegetable and finding the right matching card.
  • Complete the exercise by pairing all the vegetables with their appropriate matching cards and arranging them in order on the mat.
  • Allow a child to come and do the activity with you while you are selecting the cards.
  • Encourage the child to choose the correct card and match it with the appropriate vegetable.
  • Now, allow the children to do the activity individually.
