Product Description

Sandpaper letters with cursive exercise in Montessori language developments consists of wooden boards where the sandpapers are mounted on the boards. These are the wooden boards where the sandpaper letters are mounted on the boards and with demarcation line. The sand paper letter consonants are in pink and vowels are in blue.

Purpose

To develop a muscular impression of the letter shapes.
To help the child associate the sounds with the shapes.
To develop a visual impression.
To help the child learn the writing direction of the letter shapes.
To enhance the child's muscular memory of the shapes of the letter while tracing upon it.

Exercise

Demonstrate the exercise by bringing the set and placing it on the mat.
Invite the children to sit around you to watch you demonstrate the exercise as how it is done.
Begin the exercise by first laying all the sandpapers on the mat and feel them.
Start identifying them and make sure that the letters are not arranged in any order.
Keep the consonants and vowels together.
Invite the child, ask the child to close his/ her eyes.
Now, ask the child to pick up a random sandpaper from the laid pile of sandpapers on the mat.
Ask the child to feel it and trace the letter using his/ her index finger.
Make sure the child has his/ her eyes closed while tracing the letter.
Tell the child to sound out the letter.
If it is correct then go ahead to choosing the next child or the same child to choose the next sandpaper.
But if the child sounds out the incorrect answer then ask the child if he is unable or needs help.
Help the child however it is necessary and then tell him/ her to sound the letter.
Now, continue the exercise with the rest of the children.
Tell that everyone will take turns.
Complete the exercise and repeat it a few more number of times so that the children enjoy as well as learn.
