Product Description

Zip frame is an exercise in the Montessori practical life where a child learns the activity of zipping and unzipping. Zipping and unzipping is an activity done on various products, from clothes to school bags.

Purpose

To help a child to learn how to zip themselves.
To help a child acquire coordination of movement.

Exercise

Demonstrate by first placing your thumb and index finger over the zipper.
Place the other hand over the cloth for support
Now, gently and slowly pull the zipper down till the bottom of the cloth
Make sure the pin is out of the holder at the bottom of the cloth.
Open the cloth fully and inform the child that this activity was for unzipping.
Next, proceed to zip the cloth by first pinching the zipper handle and placing it in the holder.
Gently hold the zipper holder with the other hand for support
Now, start moving the zipper in the upward direction once you have the grip of the handle and the awareness of the zipper being placed in the holder.
Continue till the top and press the zipper to lock.
Encourage the child to perform this activity once in front of you so that the mistake can be corrected.
Allow the child to do the activity individually but monitor the movements of the child while he/ she is doing this activity.
