Product Description

Tasting bottles contain a tray of four bottles each containing liquids of four fundamental tastes, salty, sweet, bitter and sour. Each liquids are concentrated with water. Each liquid is contained in a different colored bottle. Glasses and spoons are included in the set.

Purpose

To help a child realize that there are only four fundamental tastes.
To develop awareness of the close relationship between taste and smell.
To discriminate tastes in a simple manner.
To make a child be aware of his/ her own olfactory and taste senses are linked to strengthen the sense of taste

Exercise

Demonstrate by pouring fresh water into the jug.
Bring the tray containing the liquids and place the tray on the mat or table.
Stand in front of the table and take out four glasses and two little spoons and place them on the table and fill up the glass with water.
Mix the liquid bottles in a random order. Ask a child to choose a bottle randomly.
Bring that first chosen bottle and open the bottle and show the child how to use the dropper.
Drop two drops into your spoon, place the dropper back into the bottle and taste what is in your spoon.
Replace your spoon into your glass.
Encourage the child use his spoon and you drop two drops and allow the child to taste.
Close the bottle and place it off to the left side of the table. Take the sip of water to clear the taste or your palate.
Similarly, taste all the jars in this same manner, and remember to always make the child to taste the liquid after you.
