Product Description

The touch tablets contain materials that are intended to show the gradations of roughness. The box contains five pairs of rough tablets of different gradations, from roughest to smooth.

Purpose
  • To refine the child's tactile senses
  • To help the child realize the difference between rough and smooth
  • To prepare the child for writing
Exercise
  • To demonstrate how to feel and recognize each material, begin by taking out five boards, one of each pair.
  • Touch each board. Start one at a time using your right index and middle fingers.
  • Now, encourage the child to have his/ her first hand experiencing of touching a rough or smooth surface and allow their mind to store that feeling.
  • Now mix all the tablets and place them randomly on a parallel line to each other.
  • By closing the eyes or using a blindfold, choose a tablet and try to find the match on the parallel line.
  • Find till the match is found and touch and feel every tablet placed.
  • Keep informing the children as to how to follow the procedure in order to find the right match.
  • Once you find the match, keep the paid aside and choose the next tablet for matching.
  • Repeat that same activity until all matches are found.
  • Encourage the child to perform this activity in front of you or at his/ her table while you monitor their movements.
Related Exercises

Child atleast needs one sense to rely upon in certain situations such as during power cut, when it is dark. Child’s tactile senses geared up in such a situation. Child is able to identify objects and people through touch and feel, but in such situations child is not aware of the skill but only concentrates upon the security.

This activity enhances the child’s tactile sense with the conscious effort towards understanding the concept. Child to work with this should have worked with touch board 1,2 and 3.

Post related activities such as thermic tablets, fabric box, stereognostic bags, baric tablets act as reinforcement to the child in enhancing muscular memory.

  • Store in dry and room temperature.

  • Damp your fingers very well before feeling the surfaces so that moisture does not get into the sheets of surfaces.
  • Be careful while sensitizing not to spill drops of water on the material.
